Private Individual Instruction
(By Appointment)
MEDITATION
Seated Meditation
This individual/private class consists of two 1.5-hour guided lessons covering introductory material for basic seated meditation. Included is instruction regarding posture, methods of sitting, breathing, mindfulness practices, body scanning and more. It is recommended that you use the floor cushions provided in order to maximize your experience of this kind of meditation, but if for any reason this is medically impossible for you, please let me know when you register so I can arrange that you have a chair for the class. Aspects of Buddhist philosophy will be applied as a guide, but not as a religion. We will schedule two separate classes as they fit your schedule.
Moving Meditation
Meditation comes in many forms, but the common theme is present moment focusing. In this individual/private class consisting of two 1.5-hour guided lessons, we will explore the relaxing qualities and practical benefits of Qigong and Tai Chi body exercises. These are Mindfulness practices, which have the added benefit of strengthening the body, improving balance, and increasing flexibility. These moving meditations help to expand one's ability to remain focused in the here and now. Again, there are aspects of Buddhist philosophy applied as a guide, but not as a religion. We will schedule two separate classes as they fit your schedule.
ART AS SELF-DISCOVERY
Color Pencil Medium and the Mandala
Some things can't be expressed through word and intellect, but only through forms of creative expression. In this individual/private class consisting of two 1.5-hour sessions, you will work step by step to create a personalized Mandala using color and shape to form a symbolic representation of your life. We will discuss this artistic creation as you progress through the project and eventually extract meaning and self-discovery in the finished and framed product. As noted above, we will schedule two separate classes as they fit your schedule.
